- Jonassen was drafted in the fifth round (140th overall) in the 1992 NFL draft by the SD Chargers.
- He played for the Chargers in 1993 & 1994 and was a member of the Chargers' AFC Championship team during the 1994 season and participated in Super Bowl XXIX.
- Played two more seasons for the Arizona Cardinals before retiring after the 1997 se
